Regions Financial's Q1 2025 Earnings: What to Expect

Birmingham, Alabama-based Regions Financial Corporation (RF) is a financial holding company that provides banking and bank-related services to individual and corporate customers. With a market cap of $16.9 billion, the company provides consumer and commercial banking, wealth management, credit life insurance, leasing, commercial accounts receivable factoring, specialty mortgage financing, and securities brokerage services. The leading banking and financial services provider is expected to announce its fiscal first-quarter earnings for 2025 before the market opens on Thursday, Apr. 17.

Ahead of the event, analysts expect RF to report a profit of $0.51 per share on a diluted basis, up 15.9% from $0.44 per share in the year-ago quarter. The company beat the consensus estimates in three of the last four quarters while missing the forecast on another occasion.

 

For the full year, analysts expect RF to report EPS of $2.22, up 4.7% from $2.12 in fiscal 2024. Its EPS is expected to rise 9.9% year over year to $2.44 in fiscal 2026.

RF stock has underperformed the S&P 500’s ($SPX1.4% losses over the past 52 weeks, with shares down 7% during this period. Similarly, it underperformed the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund’s (XLF7.3% gains over the same time frame.

On Jan. 17, RF shares closed down more than 1% after reporting its Q4 results. Its EPS came in at $0.56, up 43.6% year over year. The company’s adjusted revenue was $1.8 billion, missing Wall Street forecasts of $1.9 billion.

Analysts’ consensus opinion on RF stock is reasonably bullish, with a “Moderate Buy” rating overall. Out of 23 analysts covering the stock, nine advise a “Strong Buy” rating, two suggest a “Moderate Buy,” 11 give a “Hold,” and one recommends a “Strong Sell.” RF’s average analyst price target is $26.17, indicating an ambitious potential upside of 40.2% from the current levels.
