Regional Victoria will get $2.6 billion in preparation for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The funding was revealed in Tuesday's state budget alongside $111 million towards tourism and support events.
It is yet to be revealed how the money will be divided between participating towns and cities.
Four regional athlete hubs will be created in Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat and Gippsland, and Shepparton will also host sporting and cultural events.
The state government is predicting the creation of 600 jobs before, 3900 jobs during and 3000 jobs after the multi-sport event for Commonwealth nations.
The result of the one-horse race to secure the games was announced last month and it will be the first time the event has been held across a region, instead of one city.
The games funding is part of $5.7 billion being set aside for regional Victoria in the budget.
Regional health care is allocated more than $1 billion for infrastructure, nurses, doctors, paramedics and allied health professionals.
Among that spending is more cash for already-announced projects including $500 million for the Barwon Women's and Children's Hospital, $6 million for the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-operative stand-alone clinic, and $25 million for a new early parenting centre in the Shepparton region.
Beyond health, another $7.5 million is set aside for the Latrobe Valley Authority and the jobs transition following the closure of the area's coal-fired power stations.
The Country Women's Association is getting a share of a $3.9 million fund over four years for leadership groups and the Cross Border Commissioner.
Three public-run residential aged care facilities will also be built in Camperdown, Mansfield and Orbost in a $146 million package.
