A PLAN to close all GP practices in the Scottish Borders on the day of the Queen’s funeral has been reversed.
NHS Borders confirmed that three are now set to open after a press briefing was sent out on Wednesday saying all health centres and GP practices would close on Monday September 19.
However, the decision was changed in less than a couple of hours and a revised NHS statement confirmed that three practices would remain open.
Those are: Coldstream Medical Practice; Braeside Medical Practice in Galashiels and Stow and Lauder Medical Practice.
The Stow and Lauder practice will open from 8am to 10.30am, before then shutting until 2pm when it will reopen until 6pm.
Meanwhile, elected operations and hospital outpatient appointments at Border General Hospital (BGH) will go ahead on Monday as planned “subject to service pressures”.
An NHS spokesperson said: “In the event of any appointment changes, patients will be contacted directly.
“If you are no longer able to attend your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible by calling the number on your appointment letter.”
The following community pharmacies will also be open on the Bank Holiday: GLM Romanes, Coldstream (8.45am to noon); Boots Pharmacy, Galashiels (9am to 6pm); Boots Pharmacy (8am to 11am) and Lindsay & Gilmour (9am to 6pm), both Hawick; Boots Pharmacy, Kelso (10am to 4pm); Boots Pharmacy, Peebles (10am to 4pm); Lindsay & Gilmour, Selkirk (9am to 6pm).
NHS Borders Dental Services at Hawick Dental Centre, Coldstream Dental Centre, Galashiels Health Centre and Kelso Health Centre will be closed.
Vaccination clinics scheduled to take place on Monday September 19, have been moved to another date. This includes appointments for autumn/winter flu and Covid-19, 2-5 nasal flu and routine baby and children’s vaccinations.
