Reggae legends The Wailers will perform exclusive free gig at Turtle Bay

Legendary reggae band The Wailers will play a free gig at a Bristol restaurant this weekend. Well known for their connection to iconic reggae star Bob Marley, The Wailers are currently on their UK tour and play a show at Bristol 02 Academy on Sunday (March 6).

But before that, the band famous for their classic album Legend, will perform an intimate acoustic set at Caribbean restaurant and bar Turtle Bay on Broad Quay. Turtle Bay will be serving up a very special “Sunday session” of live music, Caribbean soul food and island-inspired rum cocktails as guests will be treated to this exclusive pre-gig acoustic performance from one of the best known reggae acts.

The band will play a special set featuring incredible cuts from Bob Marley and The Wailers performing songs from Legend and One World plus other hits. In late 2020, The Wailers released their first single off the album, One World, One Prayer, featuring Jamaican superstar Shaggy, Bob Marley’s daughter, Cedella, and her son, Skip.

The new album marks the Wailers’ return to the recording studios and the band’s first album for 25 years. It was nominated for a 2021 Grammy Award in the Best Reggae Album category.

As well as live music from The Wailers, diners can enjoy Turtle Bay's hearty signature dishes like jerk chicken and curry goat hash to island-inspired small plates of jerk pit wings and sweetcorn fritters. The performance takes place during Turtle Bay’s famous happy hour and so reggae fans can kick back with anything from the tropical cocktail menu as two for one.

Alternatively, people can go on a reggae-inspired rum voyage of discovery with Turtle Bay’s extensive rum menu and sharing boards. The Wailers' appearance will be free to watch for all Turtle Bay guests and the band will be there between 5pm and 7pm.

Reservations are recommended from 4pm and can be made here.
