Regency fashion is having a moment—here's how to style the vintage look IRL for 2023 occasions

Regency fashion: Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. (L to R) Sam Clemmett as Young Brimsley, India Amarteifio as Young Queen Charlotte in episode 102 of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story./ in a pink template

We might be constantly hitting replay on the Queen Charlotte soundtrack, the music isn't the only thing making waves—regency fashion (otherwise known as 'regencycore') is having a major moment for spring/summer 2023. Here's how to rock the romantic look IRL, for events, weddings and everything in between...

Bridgerton and its latest spin-off, never fail to inspire us—from our makeup (yes we're copying all the Bridgerton beauty looks), to the regency vocab we'll be quoting for weeks to come (obviously, we're talking about Queen Charlotte's 'Sorrows, sorrows and prayers') and of course the fashion.

So, for any serious fans of the Netflix shows who want to channel the likes of Kate Sharma or Daphne Bridgerton, here's how to wear this latest spring fashion trend and which regency-like pieces to add to your capsule wardrobe...

How to wear regency fashion IRL

Obviously, some of the elaborate outfits from the shows won't exactly work for 2023, there are a few shapes and styles we can incorporate into our everyday rotations—from maxi skirts and corsets to whimsical, floral and flowy dresses.

1. Corsets

A classic staple for recreating that Regency-era style is a corset top (no, we're not talking about not those rib-crushing pieces of old) but rather corset-inspired tops that have tie-backs and most comfortable ribbing. Thankfully, like the high-fashion breastplate, corsets are very much back in style, meaning they're easy to find and are surprisingly versatile.

Not only are they very flattering, they can be paired with everything, from jeans for a cute but casual look, to skirts for a summery look. You could even layer them over a dress for an extra Bridgerton boost.

2. Floral maxi dresses

Another must-have for anyone wanting to channel the romantic elegance of Shonda Rhimes' Regency world, is a floral dress—which is perfect for a summer dress and a wedding guest fit!

3. Maxi skirts

Flowy maxi skirts are also very on trend now and will create the perfect transitional spring outfit (especially when paired with a spring perfume!)

4. Regency-era accessories

As far as Regency era jewellery goes, you can't go wrong with a simple pair of gold huggie earrings and of course, pearls!
