Regan Gascoigne's son hails Rangers legend dad Paul for 'support' when he came out as bisexual

Paul Gascoigne's son, Regan, has hailed his footie legend dad for 'supporting him 100 per cent' when he came out as bisexual.

The 25-year-old is taking part in this year's Dancing on Ice alongside partner, Karina Manta, the Mirror reports.

Regan is Gazza's youngest son, making him well-versed in fame and fortune over the years.

Rangers icon Gazza notably only heard of Regan's sexuality the night before the dancer came out on ITV's Lorraine.

He previously told the Sunday Mirror: "I’m bisexual, I date men and women. I’m really open about that.

"I haven’t had a lot of relationships though. I’ve only dated three people. I haven’t told my dad but I don’t think he will mind. He is proud of me whatever I do and whatever decisions I make."

In the TV interview in November, Regan opened up about his sexuality and received lots of positive support from viewers.

Regan told Lorraine: "I’ve never actually come out. I never made a point of coming out. I’ve just let it come out organically.

"When anyone asked me I would be honest and say ‘yeah I’ve dated both boys and girls’. I feel like we shouldn’t have to come out. It should be normal."

Revealing the messages he sent to his dad, Regan added: "I texted him ‘so sorry we haven’t had this chat I’ve just felt like I’ve never needed this chat with you. I know you’re going to be OK’. And he was."

In August last 2020, England hero Gazza spoke for the first time of his son coming out as bisexual.

Gazza said he was unaware of dancer Regan's sexuality until the Lorraine interview, revealing: "He texted me the night before and I saw him on the TV talking about it.

"I told him: ‘It doesn’t matter what you do son, I will support you 100 percent, you have to do what makes you happy’.

"I thought ‘bless him’. To go on TV and do that is hard. He is a professional dancer, he is a fit guy, and I am very proud of him.

"I also get on well with him and my stepchildren Bianca and Mason. I have a good relationship with them all."

Despite his dancing background, Regen insists he has no advantage when it comes to performing on the ice.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press about his own skating ability, Regan said: "It's very different from dancing. It's so different. To be dancing on the floor, you have friction and you have stability.

"This is just - you don't. You're holding your core in a totally different way to how you would be dancing. Lifting people is totally different, it is a completely different skill. The ice is a completely different element."

He added: "What I would have during dancing, like I said the friction of the ground, is completely taken away.

"So I find there are parts of my body I'm using differently. When you do backward crossovers, you're using muscles that you don't usually use.

"When I'm dancing, my feet are turned out but this is quite a lot of turning in. Parts of my body I haven't really used before. It's so different."

*Dancing on Ice aired tonight on ITV at 6.30pm.
