Regan Gascoigne facing Dancing on Ice 'unfair advantage' accusations as he's defended by fans

Regan Gascoigne has been defended by Dancing on Ice fans after being hit with 'unfair advantage' accusations.

Still the bookies' favourite to win and a consistent high scorer throughout the series so far, Regan, son of football legend Gazza, has put in some incredible performances since making his debut on the ITV rink last month.

However, while no-one who watches Dancing on Ice can't fail to be wowed by Regan's skills on the ice, some viewers have claimed he has an edge over many of his competitors as he is actually a trained dancer.

A keen dancer from a young age, Regan enrolled at the Hammond Ballet School as a child.

He then studied Musical Theatre at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts.

The 26-year-old has also appeared in well known venues across the country as a dancer Qdos Entertainment in pantomimes for the last four years.

And it's Regan's dance background that has sparked some controversy, with one Dancing on Ice viewer taking to Twitter to post: "watching Regan and I just thought that he was too good. his thing is that he is a trained dancer - and so is Brendan - and I think that they shouldn't be competing here. it's supposed to be a learning curve where they learn to dance as well as skate."

Equally unimpressed at him having an 'advantage', another posted: "Regan, Brendan and Kimberly are examples of not allowing trained dancers to compete. There are contenders that have NEVER gotten any dance training and will be overlooked and undermarked."

However, defending Regan, one fan tweeted: "yes I know he's a trained dancer, but, credit where credit is due, and Regan is soooooo good (and not perfect!)"

A second wrote: "I love #regan don’t even care he’s a trained dancer and the advantages that brings, I’m really routing for him to win just seems such a nice person (the stumble was nothing forget about it) and a beautiful skater"

Regan was back in action on Sunday's Dancing on Ice, when he and pro partner Karina Manta scored 45 out of a possible 50 for their Hairspray themed routine.
