Three refugee children were sent on an arduous 20-hour journey from Kent to the Outer Hebrides.
The journey was said to be necessary due to the time it takes for the Home Office to issue such children with the travel authorisation documents allowing them to fly.
Details of the mammoth 600-mile taxi and ferry trip will be revealed to a committee at Western Isles Council today.
Now the authority has praised airline Loganair for a new arrangement to allow children seeking asylum to fly to the Western Isles.
A spokesman said: ”Loganair have shown understanding and compassion in allowing such children to use their flights to travel to the Outer Hebrides.”
