Referee confirmed for Sunderland's play-off final date with Wycombe Wanderers

Premier League referee Simon Hooper will be in charge of Sunderland's clash with Wycombe Wanderers in the League One play-off final. Hooper will be the man in the middle at Wembley, with Adam Crysell and Craig Taylor his assistants.

The fourth official will be Tim Robinson, and the reserve assistant referee will be Greg Read. VAR will be used in the final, and the video assistant referee will be Lee Mason.

Hooper has referee Sunderland twice before, both times in the 2017-18 season in the Championship. He was in charge of the Black Cats' 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest at the Stadium of Light in September 2017, and also the 3-1 defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday in April 2018.

The 39-year-old Wiltshire-based official refereed Millwall's League One play-off final win against Bradford City at Wembley in 2017, and he was promoted to the Select Group of Premier League referees for the 2018-19 season. This season, he has shown 102 yellow cards and one red in 29 games in all competitions.
