Reeva Steenkamp's chilling messages to Oscar Pistorius before he shot her dead

Oscar Pistorius and his slain girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp warred in chilling text messages just weeks before he shot her through their bathroom door.

On Valentine's Day 2013, the double amputee killed his 29-year-old girlfriend after he claimed to mistake her for someone burglarising their home in Pretoria, South Africa.

Prosecutors said he killed her in cold blood after the pair had an argument.

During the trial, the court heard how the model had told her boyfriend that she was scared of him just weeks prior. The text read: "I'm scared of you".

She wrote how Pistorius often erupted into jealous "tantrums" and accused her of flirting with a friend's husband at another pal's engagement.

Reeva, 29, complained that the double amputee had made a scene, and his behaviour had forced them to leave early.

Angry Reeva, later wrote: “I’ve never been a stripper or a ho.”

But the Paralympic legend excused his behaviour saying he had been feeling sick and hungry.

Another message found on Reeva's phone revealed she was unhappy with her treatment.

It read: “I am the girl who let go with u even when I was scared out of my mind to. I’m the girl who fell in love with u and wanted to tell u this weekend.

"But I’m also the girl that gets sidestepped when you are in a s**t mood."

“I feel you think u have me so why try anymore," another said.

However, many of the messages showed the couple were deeply in love, and even had cute pet names for each other.

Pistorius called Reeva "Angel" with her calling him "Baba".

The judge - who eventually sentenced Pistorius to five years for culpable homicide - decided that the text messages were not enough to determine the nature of their relationship.

One of the full messages reads: “You have picked on me incessantly since you got back from CT (Cape Town) and I understand you are sick, but it’s nasty.

“I was not flirting with anyone. I feel sick u suggested that and that u made a scene at the table and made us leave early.

“We are living in a double standard relationship…every 5 seconds I hear how u dated another chick, you really have dated a lot of people, yet you get upset if I mention ONE funny story with a long term boyfriend.

“I’m scared of u sometimes and how u snap at me and how u will react to me.

“I am not some other b**** you may know trying to kill your vibe.

“I touch your neck to show u I care. You tell me to stop. Stop chewing gum. Do this don’t do that.

The same day Oscar texted her back, saying: “I was standing tight (sic) behind you watching you touch his arm…but when I left you just kept on chatting to him when clearly I was upset.

"I’m sorry I asked you to stop taping my neck.”

A week before her death, Reeva wrote: “I can’t be attacked by outsiders for dating u AND be attacked by you, the one person I deserve protection from.”

In another message read to the court, Pistorius asks Reeva to say nothing about the shooting at Tasha’s restaurant when it is claimed he asked Darren Fresco to take the blame.

And in another he makes it seem like Reeva was lying about how many times she had “smoked weed”.
