Reece James hints at shock return from injury to face Arsenal in huge boost to Chelsea

Reece James could be set to hand Chelsea a major injury boost.

The right-back, who was named club captain by Mauricio Pochettino ahead of the new season, has not played since suffering a hamstring injury on the opening weekend against Liverpool.

James has been nearing a return to first-team action and Pochettino had hoped to include him in full training ahead of Saturday's clash against Arsenal, when the Gunners travel to Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old was believed to have suffered a setback though, one that was forcing him to train alone and looked set to keep him out of the Arsenal match.

However, James took to social media on Wednesday night and made a series of cryptic posts, hinting that he could in fact be available this weekend.

"Against all odds" was the caption for one picture, while another post thanked "the people that were patient with me".

It now remains to be seen whether Pochettino opts to risk James against Arsenal, particularly with Malo Gusto now back from suspension and available for the Blues.

Chelsea go into Saturday's clash against Mikel Arteta's side as the underdogs, but they will be in confident mood after an improved run of results before the international break.

The Blues are on a run of three straight wins, with two of those coming in the Premier League as they secured back-to-back victories in the League for the first time since March.

Pochettino's side face an incredibly tough run of fixtures, as they host Arsenal, Manchester City and Brighton and travel to the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle and Man United over the next six weeks.
