Reece James and Ben Chilwell share injury update that Chelsea fans will absolutely love

Chelsea will be desperate to pick up three points when they welcome Tottenham to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

They have now recorded just one win in their past seven Premier League matches, leaving them with plenty of ground to make up in the title race.

A large part of their drop in form can be traced to wing-backs Ben Chilwell and Reece James picking up nasty, long-term injuries, with the former expected to miss the remainder of the season with a ruptured cruciate ligament.

It has left Thomas Tuchel badly struggling for creativity within the Blues side, with the duo contributing seven goals and six assists between them in the top-flight.

"Chilly of course has had his surgery and he has our best wishes and all of our energy to come back healthy and as soon as possible," Tuchel told a pre-match press conference at the end of December.

"Unfortunately it seems like the season is over for him.

"With Reecey it’s a hamstring injury, a muscle injury, and as always with muscle injures, the examination [results] comes a little bit later. You cannot rush these things.

"The images are better if you wait a little bit. So the images will come back to us later today I guess and only then will we know more about his status."

On Friday evening, however, James shared an update on his Instagram account from the club's training ground.

In the post, the duo are pictured in the club gym, with a noticeable scar visible on Chilwell's right knee as a result of the surgery undergone after his injury.

James captioned the photo: "Fullback gang on the mend."

Given how much Chelsea have suffered without the creativity of their first-choice wing-backs, this is an update that the Stamford Bridge faithful will love.

The Blues have not won a Premier League game since both players have been missing, drawing with Liverpool and Brighton and losing to Manchester City, leaving them 12 points adrift in the title race.
