Redeveloped Dalymount Park to have capacity of 7,800 as final design chosen

The redeveloped Dalymount Park will have a capacity of over 7,800 according to plans unveiled by Dublin City Council this afternoon.

The council had engaged design teams to complete preliminary design on two of a number of options for the long-awaited revamp of the Phibsborough venue with the final option being confirmed today. The overhauled home of Bohemians is expected to cost €40m and be completed by March 2026.

The new four-sided stadium will have a capacity of 7,880, with 5,880 seats and 2,000 terracing. Delivery of the project is subject to confirmed funding from the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF).

In a statement released this afternoon, Bohemians said they were "delighted" the final design had been chosen. The club added: "The level of support for the Dalymount project remains unanimous across all major parties and there is a widespread recognition of the importance of it for Bohemian FC, for Dublin 7 and for the wider inner-city and north Dublin communities.

"The stadium has been at the heart of these sporting and geographical communities since 1901 and will continue to be so into the distant future."

The plan for the new stadium will see the full demolition of the current ground with the pitch being reoriented to a north to south position. The renovated venue will also include upgraded club facilities while an area identified for community facilities which will be housed in a separate facility on the site.

Construction work begun at Dalymount earlier this year with the demolition of the Connaught Street terrace. DCC will complete Preliminary design for the new stadium by 6 January 2023 before submitting Part 8 Planning Permission in July 2023.
