In a video AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Friday, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman announced that the website is actively experimenting with paywalls, stating that upcoming paid subreddits will be coming soon.
In an answer to a submitted question about monetisation, Huffman responded with: “Paid subreddits? Yes.”
“It’s a work in progress right now, so that one’s coming.”

Huffman described the paid subscriptions as one of the “new key features” that Reddit will introduce this year.
One of these features will include monetised content including certain subreddits and “exclusive content or private areas” being hidden behind paywalls.
However, Huffman has not yet announced when exactly paywalls will be live.
What subreddits will be behind a paywall?
