Red Dead Online receives heartfelt goodbye from fans

Many thought Red Dead Online would be a phenomenon prior to release. After all, Rockstar had millions of people tearing up Los Santos daily in GTA Online, so putting that familiar formula in the old west seemed like it would be an instant hit.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Exactly one year ago, Red Dead Online received its last big update. Of course, nobody knew it at the time — but Rockstar recently announced that it isn’t patching in more content. Nothing significant, anyway.

Fans haven’t been happy about Rockstar’s treatment of the multiplayer open-world cowboy sim for a while. However, their disappointment is on display like never before with the trending hashtag #RedDeadFuneral. It’s primarily full of people vocally condemning Rockstar while simultaneously overflowing with those sharing precious memories. It’s somewhat touching, if not also deeply sad. Red Dead Online clearly meant a lot to many, and while it isn’t shutting down — the reactions below show everyone is moving on.
