Red Arrows announce first shows for 2023 as training takes place in Nottinghamshire

The Red Arrows' public appearances for 2023 have been announced as they train in Nottinghamshire. The world-famous team will be taking part in a few public appearances this year.

The aerobatics team regularly trains but its show diary, currently, is rather scarce. Some appearances are still to be announced but they will take part in the Midlands Air Festival in June.

Lincolnshire Live reports they will fly on Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3 at Ragley Hall in the aptly-named parish of Arrow in Warwickshire, according to military-airshows.co.uk.

The Arrows will perform a flypast over the show on Sunday. The airshow festival began back in 2018 and features a variety of displays - including a 'Nightfire' show, where planes cut through the air with pyrotechnics streaming off their wings.

The following Sunday (June 11), the team will take part in the RAF Cosford Airshow, near Birmingham. It is the only official RAF airshow since the cancellation of RAF Waddington's and since RAF Leuchars became an Armed Forces base, according to the specialist website.

Due to the relatively short runway, which measures 3,891 feet, many of the participating aircraft have to use the runways at RAF Shawbury near Shrewsbury. July is empty so far but Red Arrows appearances have been penciled in for mid-August.

On Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13, they will be taking part in the air display at the free Blackpool Airshow. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and an RAF Typhoon are also slated to take part.

The calendar is empty for the rest of the year, though the Red Arrows' schedule for the upcoming season is typically announced around March and April. Until April 7, the 'Synchro Pair,' which performs the much-loved opposition manoeuvres that are a staple of its aerial shows, will be training in the vicinity of RAF Syerston in Flintham, near Newark.

Nottinghamshire Live previously reported many residents were excited about the prospect of being able to see the Red Arrows on a regular basis, but others were concerned.

Peter Moyes, 61, who lives at one of the two properties on Longhedge Lane leading up to RAF Syerston, fears more 'urinating and defecating litter louts' will descend on his home to watch the Red Arrows train.
