As of 5:30 p.m. ET, over 21,000 people had already cast their ballots in person in Washoe County, Nevada, a pivotal swing county in a battleground state that includes the city of Reno. Deputy Registrar of Elections, Andrew McDonald, reported that the county was experiencing a very high turnout and was on track to meet the impressive 83% turnout seen in the 2020 election.
Long lines were observed at polling places due to the record numbers of voters showing up to participate in the election process. Despite the high turnout, there were very few incidents of reported misconduct and no major incidents or arrests at the polling locations.
While a breakdown of the party registration of voters was not immediately available, data from the county website indicated that by 6 p.m. ET, 7,825 registered Republicans, 5,696 registered Democrats, and 11,192 voters with unidentified registration had already cast their ballots, totaling 24,713 voters.
McDonald mentioned that the turnout figures would be updated later in the evening to provide a more comprehensive overview of the voter participation in Washoe County for this crucial election.
