Lara Trump, the co-chair of the Republican National Committee and former president's daughter-in-law, recently highlighted the state of the country during the Trump administration, specifically pointing out the record low unemployment rates for various demographic groups. However, it's important to provide context to these claims.

While Lara Trump emphasized the achievements of the Trump administration, it's worth noting that many of these record lows were either surpassed or equaled during President Joe Biden's tenure.

For instance, the current record low for Black or African American unemployment stands at 4.8%, a figure achieved under Biden in April 2023, surpassing the Trump-era low of 5.3% in August and September 2019.

Similarly, the Hispanic or Latino unemployment rate hit 3.9% under Biden in September 2022, matching the record low set during the Trump administration in 2019.

Regarding women's unemployment, the rate dropped to 3.3% under Biden in January 2023, slightly lower than the Trump-era low of 3.4% in September and October 2019, which was the lowest since the 1950s.

However, the record low for Asian American unemployment, set at 2% in June 2019 under Trump, remains unmatched during Biden's presidency, with the lowest rate reaching 2.3% in July 2023.

It's essential to consider the full picture when evaluating economic data and trends, as different administrations may build upon or surpass the achievements of their predecessors. While the Trump administration saw notable lows in unemployment rates for various groups, the Biden administration has also made significant strides in this area.
