Record-breaking temperatures have about 20 million people in the U.S. under heat alerts. Various areas of the country are already experiencing triple-digit temperatures, with regions in central Florida, west Texas, and several western states being particularly affected. The heat alerts are expected to expand, especially on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week, as temperatures are projected to rise further.
While some areas in the west may still see record-breaking temperatures, Florida is also facing high heat levels. Cities like Orlando are expected to reach 97 degrees on Monday, dropping to 85 by Wednesday with the possibility of rain showers. Similarly, Tampa and Jacksonville are forecasted to experience a similar temperature drop once rain returns to the forecast. Conversely, cities like Macon and Jackson will see temperatures rise throughout the week.
In the western states, significant temperature increases are anticipated. Albuquerque is expected to jump from 77 to 98 degrees, Denver from 84 to 93, and cities like Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Sacramento are all projected to experience temperatures well above their usual highs for this time of year.
For instance, Tucson, with an average high of 100 degrees, is expected to see a substantial temperature rise by the middle of the upcoming week. Las Vegas, with a normal high of 98 degrees, is set to reach triple digits every day for the next week.
