The only pro golfer to shoot 57 in a world ranking event is from Dublin - and he is giving himself every chance of Open glory this week.
David Carey was 18 when he turned professional seven years ago, deciding not to take the US college route but instead taking the plunge when he was successful in qualifying Alpine Tour - Europe's third tier.
"The only thing I can really fairly expect for myself is to go out there and do my best and try to commit to every shot," said Carey.

"If I commit to every shot, I'll have a good week because that's one of the hardest things in golf, to pick a line and don't think, 'don't miss it here', 'don't miss it there'.
"That bit I can control. What I hope for? I hope to have the Claret Jug in my hands on Sunday.
"I'm sure a lot of people will say that but I'm not sure how many really believe that they can."
Blessed with a power game, Carey has shot low on numerous occasions on the Alpine Tour and carded that magical 57 in the Cervino Open in 2019, making 11 birdies in a bogey-free round.
He commemorates that record-breaking achievement by wearing DC57 on his cap.
Carey played 15 holes at St Andrews with Bradley Keegan on Monday and then nine with Bryson DeChambeau and neither asked him about what DC57 it meant.
No, it didn't come up," he smiled. "It gets asked more than you'd think with the 57 on the cap, they might not exactly ask if you shot it but they'll ask what is the 57 for.
"That's pretty cool, to have that record. I always look back and remember I missed two putts from inside 10 feet on the last two greens in that round, and so it could have been even lower.
"But it wouldn't be golf if you didn't think, 'Oh, I could have done better than that'.
"With Bryson, we’d a little bit of fun out there. I was chatting to him about (Ben) Hogan and the golf machine.
"He was asking me about my clubs, I was asking about his clubs. It was general talk.
"I was looking to play the back nine in the morning and there was a spot free, it just so happened that’s who it was.
"His first two questions were, 'did I qualify', and when I said yes, he said congratulations. And his next question was, 'have you had any wins'...I said, 'five professional wins'.
"That was his two main questions and after that we just started talking golf, that seemed good enough for him."
