Recently released OL Calvin Anderson posts goodbye message to Patriots

The New England Patriots released veteran offensive lineman Calvin Anderson from injured reserve last Friday. He took to X over the weekend to thank Patriots fans on social media.

Anderson signed a two-year contract with New England last March. He had a scary incident in the offseason as he had contracted malaria while doing philanthropic work in Nigeria. He was placed on injured reserve last November after suffering a heart contusion in practice.

Anderson was officially placed on injured reserve again in August, which would have ended his season.

The tackle played in 53 offensive snaps in the preseason, but he did not play in the preseason finale against the Washington Commanders.

“Thank you New England! I retain nothing but love and appreciation for the @Patriots, my teammates and the incredible fans for this chapter,” Anderson posted. “I genuinely wish I could’ve had more of an impact, but everything happens for a reason. I’ll always be a supporter.”

The offensive line has been a trouble spot for the Patriots in recent years. There was hope that Anderson could either contribute as a starter or add veteran depth to the roster.

The Patriots will now have to find that hope elsewhere on the team.
