Rebel Wilson shuts down claim she used Mayr Method diet plan to lose 5 stone

Rebel Wilson has denied that she used a diet plan known as the Mayr Method to lose weight, following recent reports that it had contributed to her figure transformation.

The actor, 42, is understood to have lost almost 80 pounds in recent years, with her having embarked on a "year of health" in 2020 that saw her lose more than 5 stone.

The Pitch Perfect star has now dispelled the claim that it was the Mayr Method - developed by Dr. Franz Xaver Mayr in the 1920s - which helped her lose so much weight.

The diet plan is said to focus on eliminating certain foods to enhance digestive health and promotes eating practices such as chewing food thoroughly, according to Healthline.

It was reported earlier by Daily Mail Australia that Rebel's recent transformation had been partially result of following the plan, which is said to include reducing sugar intake.

The article - which isn't the first to credit the method for her weight loss - however attracted the actor's attention, prompting her to dispel such speculation on Instagram.

Alongside a screenshot of part of the article, she wrote: "This was NEVER my diet. Please stop writing this stuff."

Rebel later took the opportunity to dispel other potential claims about her and warn fans against being scammed by products that are alleged to have been used by her.

She wrote in a follow-up post: "Also have NEVER endorsed any diet pills or magic weight loss pills or crypto currency. If you see stuff like this online please do report it as a scam."

The actor encouraged fans to report such scams on social media platforms directly, if they see any, with her telling them not to send evidence over to her in direct messages.

She has also warned fans against fake endorsements (Guy Levy/REX/Shutterstock for BAFTA)

Explaining to her fans how she will promote products, she commented: "If I'm endorsing something you'll see it only as official posts on my official and verified social media."

She later thanked her followers and expressed love towards her fans, with the actor further stating in a subsequent post that she doesn't want to see anyone get scammed.

The posts come amid Rebel and her co-stars promoting the upcoming comedy film Senior Year, which is set to be released on streaming platform Netflix next month.
