Rebel Wilson has recalled being sexually harassed by a male actor who demanded a lewd favour.
The 42-year-old actress detailed the “disgusting” moment in which the unnamed male actor pulled down his pants and demanded a sexual act.
Recalling the incident to People, Wilson explained it took place before #MeToo and she claimed the people involved even tried to “destroy her career”.
However, the actress knew exactly how to handle the situation thanks to her former training as a lawyer.
“He called me into a room and pulled down his pants,” Wilson revealed before explaining the actor demanded a sexual favour in front of his friends.
“It was awful and disgusting,” the actress added. “And all the behaviour afterwards — this was all before #MeToo — where they kind of tried to destroy me and my career. If it had happened after #MeToo, then I could have just blasted them.”
Wilson found her training in law helpful and made sure she documented the incident as well as told others about what had happened.
She went on to make sure that within her industry circles, people knew what had happened.
Wilson eventually finished the film but learned the person in question had already faced several other complaints.
She added: “I thought even complaining to my agency was a big step. And to complain to the studio. I found out I was like the fourth person to complain about the guy. Such gross behaviour, but a lot of women have had it way worse.”
Wilson has since spoken about the incident on several occasions and made clear that she wouldn’t put up with it now.
She also noted the “bravery” of other women speaking out about predatory behaviour in Hollywood has made her feel more empowered.
Elsewhere in her interview, Wilson revealed that her recent weight loss journey was partly inspired by her plans to start a family.
The actress has undergone a dramatic transformation and dropped 80lbs (5.7stone) after visiting a fertility doctor.
