Rebekah Vardy hits out at claim Jamie was 'too scared' to give evidence in Wagatha trial

Rebekah Vardy has fired back at claims husband Jamie was "too scared" to give evidence in court during her Wagatha trial with Coleen Rooney.

The long-running saga between the two WAGs, who battled it out in the High Court during a seven day trial, was finally put to an end as Mrs Justice Steyn ruled in Coleen's favour last week.

During the court proceedings, Coleen's husband Wayne took to the stand to give evidence.

But while Leicester City striker Jamie did show his support to wife Rebekah in the final days, he didn't testify in court.

Now, the WAG has hit back at rumours the footballer was "scared" over speaking out during the case.

Speaking to The Sun, Rebekah addressed a number of allegations surrounding the explosive trail - including one involving her husband Jamie.

When asked if Jamie was "too scared" to give evidence, she responded: "FALSE. What did it have to do with Jamie? This wasn’t his battle, it was mine.

"I didn’t need him to fight my battles."

It comes after the mum-of-four broke down in tears during her first TV interview on Tuesday night, and revealed she's 'still suffering from PTSD' as a result of the Wagatha Christie saga.

In the emotional interview, Rebekah said she has been hospitalised twice over mental health issues since Coleen famously accused her Instagram account of leaking stories about her private life to the press in October 2019.

She told The Sun : "I was having serious panic attacks. I had kidney stones which were brought on by stress, and I just felt like my life was falling apart.

"Physically, emotionally and mentally it was exhausting. It was draining. I had to go to hospital a couple of times because they were really worried about my mental wellbeing.

"And since the court case, I think I’m probably suffering with PTSD — I feel physically sick when I talk about the trial and what happened, and I have nightmares."

Meanwhile, breaking her silence after the verdict, Rebekah said she was "extremely sad and disappointed" with the decision, and she did not accept it nor believe it "was just".

The 40-year-old has always vehemently denied Coleen's accusations and launched libel proceedings in 2020.

Rebekah's statement read: "I am extremely sad and disappointed at the decision that the Judge has reached. It is not the result that I had expected, nor believe was just. I brought this action to vindicate my reputation and am devastated by the Judge’s finding.

"The judge accepted that publication of Coleen's Post was not in the 'public interest' and she also rejected her claim that I was the 'Secret Wag'. But as for the rest of her judgement, she got it wrong and this is something I cannot accept.

"As I explained in my evidence I, my family and even my unborn baby, were subjected to disgusting messages and vile abuse following Coleen’s Post and these have continued even during the course of the trial.

"Please can the people who have been abusing me and my family now stop. The case is over.

"I want to thank everyone who has supported me."
