Rebekah Vardy feels like a "massive target" for trolls.
The 42-year-old WAG - who is married to footballer Jamie Vardy and has Olivia, four, Finley, seven, and 10-year-old Sofia with the sports star – has been in the public eye for a number of years but has found it "really difficult " with online hate since the onset of social media.
The mother-of-five – who also has Taylor, 14, and Megan, 19, from a previous relationship - told OK! Magazine: "With cyber-bullying so rife, it needs to be tackled. People need to be way more accountable for their words. The situation seems to be spiralling out of control, I found it really difficult. How can you say such nasty things about someone you don’t even know?
"I see it all the time, anyone in the public eye is a massive target.
"But the older I got, the more I realised what was important. And what’s not important to me is what some random person that’s just a keyboard warrior says about me, my family or my personality. I guarantee, they wouldn’t say these things to my face!"
Rebekah - who was infamously embroiled in the Wagatha Christie court case in which she unsuccessfully sued fellow WAG Coleen Rooney after she alleged that Rebekah had leaked stories to the press about her via a private Instagram - is "petrified" at the thought of her children using social media and thinks that there should have been age restrictions implemented way back when all of it started.
She said: "It petrifies me. I’d love to turn back the clock and take away social media for a minimum age. Kids these days are way too focused on what's online. Jamie and I are very strict with our kids.
"They’re only allowed their iPads for an hour once they've had a shower, done their homework and are ready for bed. Obviously my eldest, Megan, is nearly 20 so I don’t have control of what she does. But what she’s seen me go through is really important for her."
