Rebecca Ferguson has shown her support for striking workers with a powerful statement.
The former X Factor star, who grew up in Anfield, took to twitter to comment on the ongoing strike action taking place across a host of industries at present. There are further rail strikes today and across this week, while Thursday will see the first ever walkout organised by the Royal College of Nursing.
While many are supportive and understanding of people's frustration with years of low pay, a lack of pay rises and tougher working conditions - some in the media and on television have taken aim at those striking and the unions that represent them.

It was these voices that Ms Ferguson took aim at in her twitter comment. She said: "Watching wealthy celebrities who live in homes worth over 1 million pounds arguing why strike action is unacceptable must be so frustrating! Be quiet, they work harder than any of us and some save actual lives so be silent! You wouldn’t accept 31k a year so why should they."
The singer's tweet has been praised by a number of people. Katie Wade shared it and said: "Amen to that." Nat Walker added: "Rebecca Ferguson actually talks more sense than 90% of twitter combined, if you're not already following her you should be."
The RMT union has carried out the latest in its long-running run of strike action today. Further walkouts will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) and on Friday and Saturday as the union and its members call for better pay and conditions.
The Royal College of Nursing will hold a walkout this Thursday, the first in its history. The huge strike action will take place after final talks broke down this week. RCN general secretary Pat Cullen said Health Secretary Steve Barclay refused to discuss the issue of pay with her and her team.
