Reba McEntire has 'never' met pal Dolly Parton's husband

Reba McEntire has never met Dolly Parton's husband

Reba McEntire has "never" met her friend Dolly Parton's husband.

The 69-year-old star first met the 'Jolene' hitmaker in the 1970s, several years after the country legend had tied the knot with Carl Thomas Dean in 1966, but has never been introduced to her pal's famously-private spouse.

Appearing on SiriusXM's 'Andy Cohen Live', Reba told the host she had "never" eaten Dolly's food because the 78-year-old singer had "never invited" her to her home.

Andy then asked: "Have you met Carl?"

The 'Fancy' hitmaker replied: "No. Have you?"

Andy confirmed he hadn't either but added: "People really do swear he exists."

Reba agreed: "Yeah. I saw something the other day. They were out camping, and she and Carl went back to where they got married."

Dolly, 78, previously explained her 82-year-old husband has "never" felt comfortable in the spotlight.

Speaking on her Apple Music 1 show 'What Would Dolly Do?', she said last year: "Carl has never been in the limelight and all, never wanted to be in it. He don't like it.

"He went to one thing with me early on, when we first married, to a BMI Song of the Year [event], and he came out of there taking off his tuxedo, his tie and all that and said, ‘Don't ever ask me to go to another one of these damn things because I ain't going.’ I never asked him and he never did."

The '9 to 5' hitmaker praised her spouse for being "very honest".

She added: "We have such a great relationship. I know not to ask him if I don't want an honest answer."

Dolly has also described Carl as a "loner" who doesn't like mingling with other people.

She told 'Entertainment Tonight': "He's kind of a loner, so he doesn't really like being with anybody but me.

"He's not one to kind of get out there and socialise that much.

"He loves living on the farm, taking care of the property as he has for all these many years."
