Reason Lennon Miller didn't play in Celtic vs Motherwell amid transfer links

Lennon Miller did not feature for Motherwell against Celtic on Sunday.

The Motherwell captain watched the Scottish Premiership match from the stands as his side fell to a 3-1 defeat.

Following the result, reports have emerged over a possible Celtic transfer swoop for the 18-year-old.

But, that has nothing to do with Miller's absence from the matchday squad.

Instead, Miller has been sidelined in recent weeks through injury and was unavailable for selection again at the weekend.

The teenager has not played for Motherwell in the league since the 2-2 draw with Rangers on December 29.

Since then, Miller has been recovering from a hairline ankle fracture he suffered during the fixture.

At the time, Stuart Kettlewell said the injury would likely take six to eight weeks to fully heal.

Miller was pictured in a moon boot in recent weeks as he continues rehab on the issue he suffered once before.

Reports on Sunday night claimed Celtic are considering a late transfer swoop for Miller on deadline day.

It's claimed Celtic have already had an offer for the 18-year-old booted out this month with Motherwell chiefs holding out for a bid that reaches their more than £4m valuation.

Miller - who faces another month out of action - still has another 18 months on his Motherwell contract.
