Reason given for why Prince William and Kate missed Lilibet's birthday

The Platinum Jubilee celebrations provided a rollercoaster of events and public exposure for the working royals and wider family. And while the nation celebrated the Queen's 70 years on the throne it was inevitable that focus, at some point, would once again return to the relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry.

It has been well documented that William and Harry were seated on opposite sides during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey and that the brothers appeared to spend 'no time' with each other during the Jubilee celebrations.

Prince William remains "deeply upset" about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, reported Birmingham Live, adding that The Duke of Cambridge is still said to be angry over Meghan and Harry's exit from royal life. It said a friend told The Times: “He's still deeply upset about it and feels let down, but he’s moved on."

A friend said William was anxious about the Jubilee weekend. They said this was “because he was incredibly worried about having all the family there, and what everyone was going to say.

"He was so relieved that most of the media made it all about The Queen, Prince Charles and the children — they are the key people — and he was really pleased about that.”

Harry and Meghan, who now live in California with their family, returned to the UK for the historic royal event. The Sussexes threw a first birthday party for their daughter Lilibet in the garden of Frogmore Cottage and it has been reported that the Queen met the tot over the four-day Jubilee celebration.

William and Kate missed Lilibet's birthday, though. The Cambridges were attending a royal engagement and public event in Cardiff, Wales.

Harry had returned back in April, before the start of the Invictus Games, to see his grandmother. The monarch and head of state spent 15 minutes with the Sussexes last week, it has been reported.
