Cyriel Dessers was understandably irked when referee Irfan Peljto produced a yellow card after he left the field to change his ripped Rangers shirt in the match against Athletic Bilbao.
The striker had seconds earlier been left grounded in the box after a tug on his jersey by Dani Vivian inside the box.
With no intention of playing the ball, the defender clutched onto Dessers' shirt leading to the striker falling inside the area as a pass was played through.
No penalty but a ripped shirt for Dessers 🤔 Somehow no penalty for the pull on Dessers, as he wears the proof on his shirt...❌ 📺 @tntsports & @discoveryplusUK pic.twitter.com/51iJA3eBSn

No penalty was awarded by Peljto, though, with VAR not stepping in over the call either.
Quickly, TV cameras showed the giant tear in the centre of Dessers' shirt after the pull in the box.
The Rangers striker was directed by referee Peljto to leave the field in order to change his ripped shirt.
However, seconds later Dessers was booked and told to leave the pitch after he had switched tops on the sidelines.

Despite the referee being well aware of the situation, he deemed Dessers should be cautioned for returning to the pitch without permission after the necessary shirt swap.
Peljto was staright out with the yellow card as Dessers moved back onto the pitch to retake his position before a throw-in was taken.
The UEFA official ordered Dessers return to the sideline and wait for the indication he could return to the pitch.
Under cautionable offences, IFAB laws list: "entering, re-entering or deliberately leaving the field of play without the referee’s permission".
After a short wait after the throw was taken, Dessers was informed he could return to the pitch.
