Steve Clarke has revealed Kieran Tierney didn't start for Scotland amid fears over his limited game time at Arsenal.
The Scotland manager has explained that it "could have been an issue" for Tierney to have to start both matches in the Nations League play-off against Greece.
Matters were complicated by Andy Robertson being one booking away from being suspended for the second leg of the play-off.
Should Robertson have been suspended then Tierney, who will join Celtic in the summer, would be drafted in at left-back, however Robertson did not pick up a yellow and will be available for the second leg at Hampden on Sunday.
It is unclear whether Tierney will be handed a start on Sunday after having to settle for an appearance from the bench in the 1-0 win last night.

Clarke said: “I knew early in the week. I am quite good at setting my mind to something.
"Obviously, you wait to see how it would go in training but I was pretty clear in my mind how we would do it.
"I was conscious of the fact Andy Robertson was on a yellow card and if he got a yellow tonight he could not play Sunday.
“So if I started Kieran then suddenly back-to-back games for Kieran, who has not played very often for his club either, it could have been an issue for us. That was also in my mind.”
