The reason behind Love Island's Gemma Owen and Luca Bish's sudden split three months after the final has been revealed.
The pair who met earlier this year on the ITV2 dating programme are said to have gone on a make-or-break trip to Dubai but things didn't go too well.
Luca, 23, joined Gemma, 19, and her famous family in the United Arab Emirates with the former couple sharing a string of snaps from the tropical location.
Now, sources close to camp Owen claim that things in the relationship hadn't changed upon their return to the plunging temperatures of the UK.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, a source said: "It was Gemma who ended things, things had been rocky for weeks and the split didn’t come as a shock.
"It had been going on for weeks and they had brushed over things and then they went to Dubai and nothing really changed so things came to an end."
During their trip, the couple looked more loved up than ever as they sat in front of a boat with their nearest and dearest in a snap shared by former Liverpool star, Michael Owen.
However, The Mirror revealed on Wednesday that Luca was completely speechless when he discovered Gemma had announced their split without him knowing.
Before sharing his public statement, Luca told The Mirror: "I switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head, to thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup."
He added: "I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all already now know sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways.
"We have been on such a journey together and have made some amazing memories which I will treasure. I can’t thank everyone enough for their support for us as a couple during and after Love Island.
"We will remain good friends and I wish nothing but the best for her."
Gemma shared the news in a lengthy Instagram Stories post with her followers, saying that the decision to split hadn't been easy but it was right for them.
The dressage rider said: "It wasn't an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for both of us right now.
"Many of you have been on this journey with us from the very beginning, and I wanted to thank you for your continued support as we start new chapters."
Just days prior to the news, Luca explained that their relationship was getting better and he was thinking of Christmas ideas for his now-former beau.
