Real reason I'm A Celebrity's Sue Clever is exempt from Bushtucker trial

On last night's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Here! it was revealed that former Health Secretary Matt Hancock and singer Boy George will be taking part in the next Bushtucker trial, which will involve eating creepy crawlies. However before it was announced who would be taking part, Ant and Dec revealed that one campmate was exempt from the line-up.

The pair said that Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver was exempt from yet another Bushtucker Trial and the public were not able to vote for her to take part in 'La Cucaracha Cafe'.

And many fans were left wondering Sue was exempt and took to Twitter to discuss. One wrote: "Why is Sue exempt from an eating trial #ImACeleb confused." While one penned: "How the hell can Sue be exempt from an EATING TRIAL? #ImACeleb."

It has not been officially confirmed by ITV bosses the reason why the actress has been exempt from a few Bushtucker Trials, but many fans have speculated that it may be related to the star's health. One eagle-eyed fan took to Twitter when they spotted something on the soap star's arm. They wrote: "Does Sue Cleaver have diabetes? I thought I spotted an insulin arm patch on her and now she’s exempt from the eating trial."

It's uncertain what exactly the patch is on Sue's arm as it hasn't been confirmed but it could possibly be a Dexcom, something used by people who live with diabetes, writes The Mirror.

Back in 2011, Sue's Type 2 diabetes diagnosis first became public knowledge when she received hospital treatment after collapsing on the set of Coronation Street.

According to the NHS website, diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person's blood sugar level to become too high. There are two main types of diabetes. Type 2 diabetes - the type Sue has - is when the sufferer's body cannot produce enough insulin. In the UK, around 90% of all adults with diabetes have Type 2.

As Sue appears to be wearing her Dexcom in the jungle, viewers have praised the actress for normalising living life with diabetes and not trying to hide her monitor.

One tweeted: "If Sue is diabetic glad that she’s actively showing the glucose monitor & not hiding it away like it’s something to be ashamed of #ImACeleb #diabetes."

Another penned: "Fab to see @Sue_Cleaver wearing her dexcom #positiverolemodel @imacelebrity." While one added: "sue slaying with her dexcom."

Speaking in support of Diabetes Week previously, Sue told Diabetesadvice.co.uk advised: "Having good control of diabetes is really important - after all, people with the condition live with it every day, taking care of their diet and physical activity levels."
