Real reason behind Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield's 'feud' as friendship on the rocks

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield's friendship has come into question after reports emerged the once close duo are 'barely speaking' off camera.

The presenters have been at the helm of This Morning since 2009 after Phil advocated for Holly to get the job, replacing Fern Britton. They have also hosted Dancing On Ice together since 2006 but are now 'barely speaking' outside of their ITV chat show.

Their on-screen chemistry was unmissable as viewers loved seeing the best friends in their presenting slots, while their friendship was still strong off camera. Holly, 42, and Phil, 61, would even go on holidays together with their families during their breaks from This Morning, but all of that seems to have come to an abrupt halt.

The Mirror reports that Holly is ‘deeply upset’ after Phillip released a public statement about their friendship following reports of a rift. It's been alleged that Phil kept Holly in the dark over his brother Timothy facing child sex offences, of which he was found guilty of and will be sentenced next week.

An insider told the Mail’s Katie Hind : “Holly had to find out from someone else, which must have been awful for her. She has been so loyal to him.”

Fans have also picked up on key clues things aren't good between the presenters after Holly removed Phil from her social media accounts. Her Twitter bio previously read: "I was introduced to this by a Twitter legend," before tagging her presenting partner.

Her Twitter bio now reads: "Broadcaster, Founder of Wyldemoon, Brand ambassador for Marks & Spencer and Garnier, Author of Reflections” - something that didn't slip past her and Phil's viewers.

Relations are reportedly so strained between the pair that they are now 'barely speaking' when the cameras aren't rolling for This Morning. It comes after reports that Holly was 'blindsided' by Phil's statement denying any rift in their friendship.

In a statement to The Sun, he said: "The last few weeks haven't been easy for either of us. My family went through a real ordeal.

"And Holly's support throughout meant the world to me, as did the support of my bosses at ITV, my editor Martin Frizell and the whole This Morning family, including our amazing viewers."

Another source claimed this was "desperate stuff" from Phillip given the the current rift between him and his former best pal.
