Real Madrid XI vs Mallorca: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Spanish Super Cup today

Vinicius Jr starts for Real Madrid against Mallorca in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final tonight.

The forward was sent off for the first time in his LaLiga career for a push on Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski during Madrid’s 2-1 win at the Mestalla last Friday night.

He has been handed a two-game suspension as a result, although that ban will only apply in LaLiga.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti made a raft of changes for the 5-0 win over minnows Deportiva Minera in the Copa del Rey third round on Monday, with Vinicius Jr starting on the bench. The Brazilian has been included in the squad to travel to Saudi Arabia, where Madrid play their domestic rivals at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham were among those rested from the start in the Copa del Rey, with Antonio Rudiger and Thibaut Courtois having not travelled.

Madrid, as expected, restore most of their big names for the clash on Thursday night, although Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao remain injured. Jesus Vallejo is also out.

David Alaba is in the squad as he looks to make a long-awaited return from serious injury, though Luka Modric has been ruled out late through illness.

Barcelona await the winners of tonight’s second semi-final showdown after goals from Gavi and Lamine Yamal saw them beat Athletic Club 2-0 on Wednesday. The final is on Sunday night in Saudi Arabia.
