Real Madrid star reveals Casemiro wish amid Manchester United transfer interest

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde says he hopes that Casemiro will stay at the club despite growing interest from Manchester United in his signature.

United are looking to add at least one new midfielder to their first-team squad by the end of the summer, with the 30-year-old the latest player of interest.

Erik ten Hag's side has approached Real about the possibility of signing the midfielder in the coming days, though it is still unclear whether or not the player really would be open to such a challenge.

Speaking outside his club's training ground on Thursday, Valverde was quizzed on the future of his midfield teammate and the interest from United.

"He hasn't said anything," the Uruguayan said. "I don't know anything. Of course [I want him to stay]."

Casemiro has won the Champions League five times with Real and is a regular for the Brazil national team, but would need to accept at least one season in the Europa League if he made the move.

The 30-year-old is under contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2025 and played an instrumental role in their Champions League final victory over Liverpool in May.

Casemiro started on the bench in Real's opening weekend win at Almeria on Sunday, but did start in last week's Super Cup triumph against Eintracht Frankfurt.
