Real Madrid legend Fernando Hierro is surprised by Karim Benzema's form since Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo left.
The pair enjoyed a successful partnership during Ronaldo's time in La Liga. Real Madrid with the Ronaldo and Benzema won the league twice and Champions League four times, along with a number of other titles.
Ronaldo's time at the Bernabeu came to an end in 2018 after nine years at the club. With a big void to fill, Hierro admitted he did not expect Benzema to step up in the way he has since.

"Well, Karim Benzema is really an extraordinary player. When I was second coach to Ancelotti, I realised what an exceptional player he is and how is he very talented, how he connects with his mates and how he creates football," he said via Sports.ndtv.
"When Cristiano left, I think no one expected him to score as many goals as Cristiano. He has surprised everyone.
"Maybe when he was playing with Cristiano and Bale, he was not as ambitious in terms of goalscoring as Cristiano was, but I think he is just fantastic. I think he is worthy of Ballon d'Or because he has really taken a step forward and is performing amazingly."
