Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti has spoken about how 'powerful' Darwin Nunez is after the striker's move from Benfica was confirmed by Liverpool on Tuesday night for a fee that could reach £85 million.
Liverpool have paid £64 million up front for their new striker, but if add-ons are met then they will be forced to break the £75 million record transfer fee they paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.
The Madrid legend was Nunez's former manager at Almeria and he highlighted his 'shock' at no Spanish club taking a chance on him after a good spell in Guti's side.

Guti told El Chiringuito: "He was a kid when I had him; [Nunez] has certainly matured over the years. He’s a pure striker, he’s very good in the box. He’s very quick, very powerful, and he’s good in front of goal.
"It’s still a bit difficult for him to create a link-up when he’s not in the box, but I think he has a great future. At the time, I was surprised that no Spanish club, after the good season he had at Almeria, did not look at him, and he went to Benfica."
