During the Champions League quarterfinals second leg match between Manchester City and Real Madrid, Vinícius Junior suffered an injury that forced him off the field. The Brazil winger appeared to injure his groin while challenging City defender Kyle Walker for the ball in extra time at Etihad Stadium. He was seen holding the inside of his thigh and fell to the ground in pain, leading to his substitution by Lucas Vazquez in the 103rd minute.

The game had entered extra time after finishing 1-1 in regulation time. The overall aggregate score was tied at 4-4 following a 3-3 draw in the first leg in Madrid last week. Real Madrid took the lead in the 12th minute through a goal by Rodrygo, which was later canceled out by Kevin De Bruyne's equalizer for Manchester City in the 76th minute.

The match ultimately went to penalties, where Real Madrid emerged victorious with a 4-3 win. Antonio Rudiger scored the decisive spot kick after the game ended 1-1 in extra time, resulting in a 4-4 aggregate scoreline.
