Corrie's Nick's real life after he quit soap for sake of his family and actress wife

Coronation Street's Nick Tilsley has been gracing our screens since 1981 and is most recently played by Ben Price.

The actor, 50, took on the oldest of Gail Rodwell's children and co-owner of Viaduct Bistro in 2009.

But who is the actor behind Gail's son?

Ben has been happily married to his wife actress Alexandra Wheeler since 2005.

The couple reportedly met while working on a play called On The Razzle and share two children together, Maximillian and Paloma.

The actor keeps his family life away from the spotlight and even left the soap to spend more time with them in 2017.

However, Ben returned to Weatherfield just a year later with his hours changed to fit around his family.

Nick Tilsley was played by Warren Jackson from 1981 until 1996 when Adam Rickitt took over the role in 1997 until 1999.

He returned for three separate stints between 2002 and 2004. Ben Price took over the role in December 2009.

Ben was shortlisted as the best soap newcomer at the TV Choice Awards in 2010.

Before taking on the role of Nick, Ben was best known for his role as hunky footballer Conrad Gates in Footballers' Wives.

He started his career at the Manchester Royal Exchange, having grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne and attended London's Drama Centre.

Ben made his first television appearance in an episode of Casualty in 1996.

He rejoined the medical drama from 2005 to 2007 as corporate director Nathan Spencer before making the move to Weatherfield.

During his Casualty days, Ben was voted one of the ten actors most likely to succeed in Hollywood by Stage and Screen magazine.

Ben has also worked on four films as a writer and director.

His first short film, 'I'm Sorry To Tell You', was shortlisted at BAFTA.

In 2020 he filmed '3 Minutes of Silence' which was funded by the BFI. It stared Bella Ramsey and Molly Wright and has gone onto International recognition.

Ben also hosts a podcast alongside fellow Coronation Street stars Jack P. Shepherd and Colson Smith called Sofa Cinema Club.
