Real-life Line of Duty: Undercover cop saved woman from murder after corrupt cops stole £200k

Former undercover detective Peter Bleksley has revealed that he helped save a policewoman from being murdered in a real-life situation that resembled a Line of Duty plot.

Peter was an undercover cop for over 10 years in the 80s and 90s when organised criminals were becoming more sophisticated.

His job was to turn organised crime groups into disorganised rabbles by feeding back intelligence.

Recalling a terrifying incident which saw one group of corrupt cops turn on an individual, Peter revealed that he was forced to act when murder appeared to be on the cards.

The corrupt group of detectives had stolen £200,000 but discovered a "weak link" in the chain.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today, Peter was asked whether there was a real-life link to corruption.

"When the corrupt gang found out that one of the previously straight detectives had received some of the money they went, 'Oh no, this is a weak link'. And a detective got hold of me and said, 'They're going to kill her, what are we going to do?'"

Stunned host Kate Garraway gasped: "Oh no!"

"Suffice to say, I'm not going to say exactly what I did, but that detective is still alive today, the murder didn't happen," Peter added.

Co-star Kate's Ben Shephard exclaimed: "That escalated!"

"So does Line of Duty reflect the truth?" Peter asked. "In some regards but it's a drama so you've just got to sit back, have a glass of something a little stronger than [water] and thoroughly enjoy it!"

"Once upon a time I knew of some corrupt detectives who stole £200,000," he said. "[They] divided it amongst themselves and then one detective shared it with somebody who wasn't corrupt he was having a relationship with.
