Real-life will transcend soapland next week on Emmerdale as Eric Pollard confesses his love for Brenda Walker.
Lesley Dunlop and Chris Chittell will be able to play out their own romance on screen again as their characters open up about their feelings for one another.
The pair are one of many real couples on set, who include Charley Webb and Mathew Wolfenden, Zoe Henry and Jeff Hordley, and Natalie J. Robb and Jonny McPherson.
However, none of their characters have dated one another.
Next week, usually unlucky-in-love Brenda is touched when Pollard tells her that he loves her and doesn't want the twins to think that he's just a temporary arrangement...
The actors first began dating soon after Lesley joined the soap in 2008 and tied the knot back in 2016 during an intimate ceremony.
But there were first hints of a blossoming romance between their characters last year when Eric impressed cafe worker Brenda with his new healthy snacks.
After he encouraged her to try them out, Eric left his grandson Jacob suspicious that he fancied her.
He later offered to buy her a drink, leaving Jacob believing himself to be right.
This isn't the first time that they have acted out their romance on Emmerdale - back in 2012 the pair shared a brief romance.
But will their on-screen love prove as strong as their real-life romance? Only time will tell...
