Real Housewives icon on making reality show history as she returns to the hit series

Fans were disappointed when glam mother-of-three Magali Gorre announced that she was leaving The Real Housewives of Cheshire after the second series back in 2016. The Dutch author and magazine columnist made a big impact as part of the original line-up with Ampika Pickston, Dawn Ward, Lauren Simon, Leanne Brown, Tanya Bardsley.

When Magali, the wife of footballing star Dean Gorre, left the show she announced she wanted to spend more time with her family following the devastating loss of her father the previous year. The door was left open for her return.

During the tenth series, in 2019, Magali appeared in a special to celebrate the 100th episode of the Real Housewives of Cheshire. But now, she's "back with a bang" as part of the latest addition to the global Housewives franchise, The Real Housewives of Amsterdam.

The worlds of Cheshire and the Netherlands have collided as Magali joined the new show as a friend of the Housewives on the show, which is streaming on Videoland, the Dutch answer to Netflix. The reality series follows a group of wealthy women - Cherry-Ann Person, Djamila Celina, Hella Huizinga, Kimmylien Nguyen, Maria Tailor, Sheila Bergeik and Susanna Klibansky - as they enjoy a lavish and luxury lifestyle in Amsterdam.

Magali, who is originally from The Hague in Holland, met Dean, a former player for Dutch giants Ajax, in a nightclub in Rotterdam. They have been married 29 years and they have three sons Kenji, Quinten and Aidan.

Magali's husband was the manager of the Suriname national football team in South America, which qualified for the Gold Cup football tournament for the North, Central American and Caribbean for the first time in its 100 year history in 2019. Dean, who in the UK played for Huddersfield Town and Barnsley, is now director of football for the Dutch Caribbean Island of Curaçao.

Magali moved to Cheshire with her family from Amsterdam and studied A-level English in order to "express herself better." She's proud to make history on the popular reality show with her comeback to the Real Housewives franchise, which started in America in 2006 with the The Real Housewives of Orange County.

She explained in an exclusive interview with the Manchester Evening News: "I'm the first black woman to be in two different countries on the show.

"Dean played for Ajax and is very well known in Amsterdam and I'm a football mum. It is good to speak in my own language on this show more than 20 years after I left Amsterdam."

And Magali says the Amsterdam version has proven to be just as dramatic as ITVBe's explosive Cheshire series, saying: "I thought I had a friend on the show, who became an enemy." And asked if there have been just as many rows, she laughed; "Yes because it's the show, and it's a bit darker.'"

She added: "It feels good to be back on The Real Housewives because the door was always open but I'm not sure if I fit in the Cheshire version. But now I'm back with a bang."

On Thursday, January 12, Magali filmed the reunion episode, which brings together the cast to air their grievances. She says's she's delighted with the reaction to her appearance on the show. "People recognise me in Amsterdam and I've been recognised in New York from The Real Housewives of Cheshire," she said. "My catchphrase on the new show is 'there's never a dull moment with Magali and it's true.'"
