Gini Wijnaldum is likely to be on the move this summer after spending last season on loan at AS Roma.
The Netherlands international left Liverpool at the end of his contract in 2021 to join Paris Saint-German on a free transfer. Yet his move to the Ligue 1 giants has not worked out.
Although he would made 38 appearances for the Parisians, only 22 came from the start as he lost his place in the starting XI. And although he would end up a Ligue 1 winner in 2021/22, the Dutchman was still deemed surplus to requirements and loaned out to Roma last summer.
However, the 32-year-old fractured his leg in training just a week after making his debut for the Italian giants and spent six months on the sidelines as a result. Returning to action in February, he finished the season with 23 appearances for Roma, 12 of them being starts, as they reached the Europa Conference League final.

Now returning to Paris following the conclusion of his temporary stint away, Wijnaldum’s future is the subject of speculation. The ex-Liverpool man has been linked with a return to the Netherlands, with both former clubs Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven credited with interest.
But while Wijnaldum is aware of such speculation and keeping an open mind about his future, the Netherlands international has admitted a return to his homeland is not his priority.
“I've read all sorts of things about PSV and Feyenoord over the past few days,” Wijnaldum admitted while on international duty with the Netherlands. “I will keep all options open this summer. But a return to the Netherlands is not my first option now.”
