Ashfield MP Lee Anderson has been criticised after he accused the BBC and the Labour Party of a “witch hunt” of the Prime Minister Boris Johnson. After being told by a BBC journalist that Boris Johnson “is a man who’s lied to the Queen, lied to the public and lied to the House of Commons”, Lee Anderson took to defend the Prime Minister in an interview.
In the interview, Mr Anderson replied: “What people are seeing is a witch hunt led by the BBC, led by the Labour Party.” He continued and said that the BBC have “had it in for Boris from day one".
He said: "People are complaining about the BBC all the time, saying it should be defunded, there’s a massive witch hunt by you and the Labour Party and the mainstream media. Even now, you’re not gonna let this drop are you? You’re going to go on and on and on.”

The BBC journalist reassured that there was no witch hunt of the Prime Minister. But Mr Anderson has come in for criticism for his comments. On Twitter, user @Supertanskiii tweeted: “Dispatch this cretin at the next election.”
Another user, @pwsimerimiaw, tweeted: “Lee Anderson MP having an almighty strop while being interviewed by BBC. It's ALL everyone else'' fault, a witch hunt by everyone, the BBC, the Lab party, the media, remainers, the public."
Whereas another user, @albundsydad, defended the Conservative MP. They said the MP was "telling it like it is, and the interviewer didn't like it and tried to shout him down".
It comes after Lee Anderson came in for scrutiny after saying there was “no massive use” of food banks in the UK and that meals can be made from as little as 30p. This in lights of reports that 2 million adults in the UK cannot afford to eat due to the cost of living.
