RBA appoints new assistant governor

The Reserve Bank of Australia has appointed Bradley Jones as assistant governor for the central bank’s financial system group.

The position became vacant when Michele Bullock was promoted to deputy governor in April after Guy Debelle resigned from the RBA.

The RBA said Dr Jones was chosen from a competitive field of internal and external candidates.

Dr Jones joined the RBA in 2018 as head of its international department and was most recently head of its economic analysis department.

He previously worked for the International Monetary Fund in Washington for five years.

“In his new position, Dr Jones will oversee the Reserve Bank’s work on financial system stability and its role in payments system oversight and regulation,” the central bank said in a statement.
