RB Salzburg vs Chelsea: Prediction, tickets, LIVE stream, TV, lineups, team news – 2019 pre-season preview

RB Salzburg vs Chelsea
Venue: Red Bull Arena, Salzburg, Austria
Kick-off time: 7pm BST
Date: Wednesday, 31 July, 2019

Frank Lampard will take his Chelsea squad to Austria for the penultimate fixture of their pre-season schedule as they face Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg.

The Blues have won three out of their last four games, beating Barcelona 2-1 in Japan before the thrilling 4-3 win over Reading on Sunday.

The west London side will now swap the Madejski Stadium for the green forests of the Austrian suburbs as they face RB Salzburg, who reached the Europa League semi-finals in 2017-18.

With the Premier League season under two weeks away, it marks one of the final opportunities for Lampard to test the fitness of his squad before their last friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach on August 3.

Here's what you need to know...

RB Salzburg vs Chelsea predicted lineup and team news

N'Golo Kante returned to training this week as he continues his recovery from a knee injury but it remains to be seen whether the French midfielder will be available to start against RB Salzburg.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have begun light training following their Achilles injuries but Antonio Rudiger is still a long way off returning to action after his knee injury sustained towards the end of the season.

Brazilian winger Willian has returned to training following his extended holiday after the Copa America and the 30-year-old could get some much-needed minutes under his belt.

With speculation linking Fikayo Tomori with a loan move away from the club, the defender could be left out of Wednesday's clash, despite featuring in every match under Lampard so far.

Chelsea XI: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Christensen, David Luiz, Alonso; Jorginho, Kovacic; Mount, Barkley, Pulisic; Giroud.

Prediction: RB Salzburg 1-2 Chelsea

The Blues have had no problem scoring goals this pre-season, with 11 goals in five games, and the only below-par performance came in the narrow 1-0 defeat to Kawasaki Frontale in difficult conditions in Japan.

They should have enough about them to see off the challenge from the Austrian Bundesliga champions, but must be wary of the fact Salzburg have already begun their league campaign with a 2-0 win over Rapid Vienna.
