Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund says Max Wöber is heading to 'the best league in the world' after completing his move to Leeds United.
Wöber penned a four-and-a-half year deal with Leeds, which will see him stay at the club until the summer of 2027. The Austrian international becomes the third player to sign from Red Bull Salzburg under Jesse Marsch after Rasmus Kristensen and Brenden Aaronson back in the summer.
He was signed by Marsch during his spell at RB Salzburg and won three Austrian Bundesliga titles and three Austrian Cups in his three-and-a-half seasons at the Red Bull Arena.
The 24-year-old has also previously had spells in the Netherlands and Spain, and is capable of playing at centre-back or left-back. Freund revealed that RB Salzburg had previously resisted interest from other clubs for Wöber, but says his transfer to Leeds 'makes sense' for everyone involved.

"We have held plenty of discussions with Max in the past about possible transfers," Freund told Salzburg's club website. "But we continually came to the conclusion that it wasn't the time yet and FC Red Bull Salzburg was the best place for him.
"It was different this time, and a transfer makes sense for both sides. Max is now going to the best league in the world as a real Salzburger.
"Now he has the opportunity to realise his dream of being in playing in the Premier League and we have now found a good solution for everyone involved."
