RB Leipzig request Liverpool friendly rematch with Darwin Nunez condition

RB Leipzig have jokingly asked Liverpool for a rematch without Darwin Nunez on the pitch after being tormented by the Uruguayan on Thursday evening.

Jurgen Klopp's side ran out 5-0 winners at the Red Bull Arena with the Reds' big-money summer signing responsible for four of their goals scored. In doing so, Nunez issued the perfect response to those who had been questioning whether he was the right fit for the club.

Leipzig found themselves only one goal down at the break, though things soon took a turn for the worse when the Bundesliga side saw Liverpool's new forward being stripped to come on for the second half.

The hosts had simply no reply to the attacking dominance of the 23-year-old, who showcased his ability for all to see with four varied finishes. Nunez got off the mark with a penalty early after the break, slotted home from close range for his second and third before curling an effort into the bottom corner to cap off a night to remember.

Die Roten Bullen have become the first team to experience the difficulty of facing the former Benfica striker operating in the Reds' system and were left with nothing but praise for his efforts after the contest. Sharing a tongue-in-cheek comment on their official Twitter account, RB Leipzig tweeted: "When's the rematch without @Darwinn99? That guy is a beast."

This fixture represented Leipzig's final act of pre-season as their attention now turns to their upcoming Super Cup clash with Bayern Munich, followed by the return of the Bundesliga one week later. Wishing the Reds well for the new campaign, a second tweet from the German club read: "Was a pleasure to have you @LFC All the best for your season!"
