RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi says he and the rest of his teammates have suffered from a crisis of confidence so far this season ahead of next week's Champions League clash with Celtic.
The Hoops travel to Germany next Wednesday to face the Bundesliga side who have had a turbulent start to the campaign with results not going their way. They have lost to both Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk in Celtic's Champions League group, losing 4-1 at home to the latter after Gulacsi's horror control and pass of the ball allowed ex-Hoops winger Marian Shved to open up his elite European club competition account. Leipzig have won just two out of seven league matches this season.
Marco Rose replaced Domenico Tedesco earlier this month as boss and captain Gulacsi admits he hasn't known a thing like it. But he confessed he's part of the problem, urging major improvement before their Champions League tussle with Celtic after conceding 23 goals in only 11 games this term.
He said: "I'm the first to look at myself and analyse and reflect on my performance. I made a mistake against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
"Something like that has never happened to me in my career and hopefully won't happen again. We have been conceding too many goals. If we don't defend so well as a team, it's not easy as a goalkeeper.
"Ahead of our upcoming games, we have to be much more consistent and stable defensively as a team. The amount of goals we have conceded is not good enough and it is something we have been discussing collectively.
"Now we have huge games ahead against Bochum and then Celtic and we have to improve. The recipe is simple: We want to work very hard and press high and then switch quickly and take our chances better than we have done so far this season."
